Who is who?

2 black vultures who had fallen in a cooking oil vat(spelling?) behind a restaurant - they smelled like french fries and hamburgers and required many many cleansing with Dawn soap - they are recovering nicely and we expect a sucessful release

Banded pigeon from California - was shot in the chest and prognosis is guarded

Golf course baby squirrel who wandered up to a professional golfer on a tour- the golfer is from Norway- the squirrel is doing fine-

Presently in "rehab", we have one bald eagle that was rescued right before Christmas- this bird is very special because first off it was even spotted. He/she was down at the water's edge with a big pile of dirt "hill" around and not visible from the road leading around the lake- a man up on a bulldozer spotted the bird and attempted a rescue. The bird had become entangled in a roll of barb wire that was buried halfway into the ground- the wire looked very old and we are guessing left over from whatever the land was used for before the development of the new housing site Bridgewater that is currently being done. Second off,the bird is permanently injured and we are hoping will become an educational bird.

We have 2 red shouldered hawks that were vehicle hits and they are progressing well. We have 1 barred owl that was found entangled in fishing line and was dangling from a tree- a man fishing from his airboat rescued this boat- prognosis on this bird is guarded.

3 adult opossums are in rehab at present- all have been vehicle accident victims.

For 2007, Woodland Wonders has already released 2 red shoulder hawks, 2 rabbits, 1 opossum and 3 dove!

Also in rehab are: 1 baby eagle in the flight cage, 1 baby horned owl, 3 baby screech owls, 3 baby squirrels, 3 blackbirds, 11 opossums, 3 baby rabbits

Interesting sightings at Woodland Wonders’ site have been flocks of white ibis, large groups of crows flying over and large flocks of robins! The writer grew up in Colorado and robins being back so many delightful memories!
